Q&A with Corey Hudson
What interests you most about taking on DIY projects?
The best part of DIY projects is the inspiration and research. I love scrolling Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration before I dream up my next project. My favorite profiles for inspiration on Pinterest are Liz Marie Galvan (duh), Julie Blanner, and Marian at Miss Mustard Seed
What creative areas do you prefer to focus on?
Design all the way! With a background in design, I love playing around with patterns and textiles.
What do you consider to be your greatest business accomplishment thus far?
My greatest business accomplishment thus far is selling one of my websites for 5 figures. I worked really hard for two years before I started my current blog, Hudson Farmhouse, on my previous website. It was my baby and I was sad to see it go but it gave me the freedom to stay home full time with my kiddos.
What has been your most difficult project that you’ve tackled?
By far the most difficult project I have tackled was remodeling our home. My hubby and I did all of it ourselves. It took years and a lot of tears, arguments, and long hours but we did it!
Do you have a brand partner that you consider to be your favorite?
I love working with Minted and love their products! I always use their paper products and love their home decor line as well.
Which platform helps you to reach your audience the most, and how do you keep them engaged?
Pinterest! And I am so happy to be speaking and teaching others how to utilize the platform to reach a bigger audience at HAVEN. The best way to keep your audience engaged on Pinterest is to consistently pin new pins and add fresh content.
Based upon your personal experience, what’s one piece of advice that you’d give to blogger/influencers?
One piece of advice I would like to share with bloggers or influencers is to try and share what they do across all platforms. For example, if you did a killer time-lapse of you ship lapping a wall or a makeup tutorial, clothes try on, etc. Whatever you do share it everywhere! That same time-lapse video will bring in viewers on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and Youtube. Not just your Instagram stories. Save them and share them across other platforms. Promise it will help bring in more viewers.
What’s one fun fact about you that our readers would be surprised to know?
I have a twin sister. Hello, Kristi and Kelli at Lolly Jane or The Design Twins Julie and Jodie. Can we join your really awesome club?
What do you like most about HAVEN Conference?
The fact I can meet some of my virtual friends in real life! I can’t wait to meet everyone in July!
What do you want your audience to take away from your presentation at the Heart of HAVEN virtual conference?
I want my audience to walk away from HAVEN excited to get on Pinterest and share. Be confident that they know what to do moving forward to make the platform work for them. I will be sharing tips for beginners and seasoned pros. I want everyone to walk away learning at least one thing if not multiple things!
