Racheal Jackson created Banyan Bridges in an act of rebellion against the pale muted palettes that were flooding the instagram interiors world. Her bold colorful and graphic murals have quickly rallied a devoted following of color enthusiasts around her as she’s traveled around the United States creating vibrant original murals in people’s homes.
Her followers love her for her authenticity and candor when it comes to the pressures of everyday life. Racheal is a Better Homes and Gardens Stylemaker and has been published on Apartment Therapy, Design Sponge, and Domino.
Q&A with Racheal Jackson
What interests you most about taking on DIY projects?
I think everything is more fun if you make it yourself! When you DIY something, it’s going to be different from anything else you’re seeing on the market, you get to learn a skill, and there’s a part of you in your home.
What creative areas do you prefer to focus on?
Paint and wood! I love building furniture, creating wall treatments, making cool things with wood. I am obsessed with painting wall murals and is probably what I’m known for most. I’m eager to play with more color and shape in tile design, using wood to make more 3D murals and breaking the way I think about boundaries.
What do you consider to be your greatest business accomplishment thus far?
Honestly, just making money! I started two years ago, and I am now profitable with multiple revenue streams, and I still enjoy what I’m doing!
What has been your most difficult project that you’ve tackled?
Well, I’ve done a lot of hard things (renovated a house on my own, built furniture and built-ins). My most difficult would probably be the studio apartment I’ve built as an add-on to our barn!
Do you have a brand partner that you consider to be your favorite?
I’ve loved working with Elkay! Their people are the best, and their products make every space better!
Which platform helps you to reach your audience the most, and how do you keep them engaged?
Instagram! I love instagram. I share projects often through my stories, and people enjoy being part of the process!
Based upon your personal experience, what’s one piece of advice that you’d give to blogger/influencers?
Find something that you love and that excites you! There’s a sea of content out there, but if you are passionate about what you do and share that with others, they’ll be passionate about what you do too!
What’s one fun fact about you that our readers would be surprised to know?
I have to have a pump up session complete with loud pop music before I can leave my hotel room at conferences! I get so nervous to meet everyone but I love it so much!
What do you like most about HAVEN Conference?
I love connecting with all the other makers! I love to brainstorm with them and talk business and be surrounded by my people!
What do you want your audience to take away from your presentation at the Heart of HAVEN virtual conference?
Strategies for connecting with their audience! Creating authentic relationships with your followers translates to higher engagement and more fun!
