Friday Fun was had at the Haven Conference. We started our Friday Night In event 2 years ago, with a desire to include all of our HAVEN mavens in the networking and fun that is abound at the Haven Conference.
Live Life in Color was the theme to coordinate with our overall conference theme of Rainbow Row. This is ONE of our favorite aspects of the conference – developing the theme with color and decor is right up our alley. Always on a shoestring budget, we bring out the resourceful thinking and enjoy the process, smiling the whole way through. We chose bold black and white to POP with color.
The event starts later in the evening, after dinner, providing wine along with zesty and sweet snacks.
While the music was energetic, the vibe was easy and laid back. Although if you came in around 11, you may have found a few of us that turned up the music and had our own dance party…
You can count on at least three activities during our Friday Night In. We set them up in a round robin style so attendees can move around and participate in each activity and chat with new friends with out too much effort.
JOANN donated the cupcake station supplies – they really went all out. IF you are a novice or already perfected cake decorating, JOANNs has the stuff for you! I was so excited when they let me know I could choose items from their online store. Like a girl in a candy shop, I was choosing fairy dust, eyeballs, gorgeous leaf and shell cutters, edible paints – OH MY…What is your favorite decorating tool? Mine was the tri color icing bag – It swirls the three colors of icing at one time.
Dremel provided the VersaTip for our wooden spoon etching station. Have you tried this tool? It is incredibly easy and sky’s the limit with what you can etch on wood.
We had a flatlay station where guests took their cupcake and wooden spoon, arranged a flatlay display and learned tips on this style of photography by Aniko, author and photographer for Place of My Taste . She was fabulous and consistently had a crowd around her table.

“Later that night after dinner they had a Friday Night-In which was basically a crafting and making hang out session with food and drinks. I used a Dremel Wood Etching tool for the first time and learned about what you need to take good flat lay photos with Aniko from Place of My Taste. And because of my photo, I took with my flatlay that evening I won a Jo-Ann’s cupcake decorating set as my prize! My wooden spoon etching and winning picture are below. As you can see, the Friday Night In event during the Haven Conference is right up a HAVENmaven’s alley – we have a ton of fun trying out new activities all while networking with our peers.
