Months of hard work and preparation goes into every HAVEN conference. Every detail, from the venue to the schedule, is given great weight and consideration. We want every HAVEN to be a wonderful and unforgettable experience for everyone involved, especially our cherished attendees.
As an attendee, you also, no doubt, spend a lot of time and effort to be at Haven 2020. There’s so much to consider, such as working out your schedule, expenses, packing, travel, and more. Once you arrive and begin to experience all that we’ve put together for you, you’ll want to retain as much as you can, so when you get back home, you can put what you learned to work for you.
Here are some ways to get the most out of your HAVEN experience.
Get Plenty Of Rest
This may seem obvious, but it can be so easy to forget during a trip away from home! Getting plenty of rest before and during the conference is essential if you want to think and feel your best. As mentioned above, you have likely spent considerable time and effort to attend; getting adequate sleep is a must if you want your mind to soak in all the blogging and business tips being offered during the conference.
Feeling well rested will also boost your confidence when meeting and talking with the many brand representatives in attendance.
That’s not to say you should’t go out and have fun after conference hours! Just be mindful of how much rest you would normally you need to function properly the following day.
Take Lots Of Notes
Taking notes during sessions is a valuable way to bring the conference back home with you. You’ll have a difficult time putting what you learned to work for you if didn’t write anything down and have forgotten key session points during the course of the conference and the journey back home.
A convenient way to take notes is to do it digitally with your phone; after all, your phone will probably be in your hands anyway during much of the conference, and you probably text faster than you write.
Mobile apps like Google Docs make it easy to jot down, and later, share or print off notes, and you can even customize the format with headers and bullet points like you normally would on a word processor.
Don’t Forget To Bring Business Cards!
Simply put, business cards are a must-have for any conference. Don’t leave home without them! When you get back home, you’ll no doubt have a stack of business cards from the brands and bloggers you met at HAVEN; likewise, you’ll want your business card to be in the stacks that each and every one of them also have.
Don’t underestimate the power of these little cards; consider spending a little extra time and money in making yours stand out from among the others. There are many ways that you can customize yours from an ordinary card, from gloss and paper stock options, to sizes and shapes. You can even use a completely different material than paper such as wood. Some people are even creating stickers with their logos on them as mementos to hand out during conferences.
Whatever options you choose, just make sure the look of your card or sticker harmonizes with the overall look and message of your “brand”.

Interact With The Brand Representatives
You might consider the thought of interacting with brand reps to be very intimidating and WAY outside your comfort zone. To be sure, the opportunity to work with a national brand is a heavy responsibility and a wonderful privilege. At the end of the day, business is business, and brand reps are looking for people who will best represent their brand and engage their audience.
But don’t forget, brand reps are ordinary people just like you. Just have a friendly conversation with them! Ask them how they’re doing, how they’re enjoying the conference thus far. How was their trip to the venue? Engage them with a pleasant conversation and a friendly smile.
Once you move to business matters, tell them how you can benefit their brand, their audience, and their overall mission. Of course, before you can confidently give them such assurances, you need to know about them and their audience. Before the conference, take the time and research these things. A brand is much more likely to work with someone who is prepared, knows the brand beyond “I love using your product!”, has a plan, and confident in their ability to make that plan happen.
Another way to interact with the brands is to participate in the DIY workshops. Usually the same brand reps that you meet at the booths will also be present during the sponsored workshops. Not only are the workshops fun and informative, they also present additional opportunities to connect with the brands you want to work with!
